The experience of the coordinator in the domain and in the management of national/international projects
MNINGA, founded in 1834, is presently the most representative structure in Romania that is profiled upon research of faunistic diversity. It develops fundamental and applicative research regarding: taxonomy, zoogeography and ecology of animal species; scientific substantiation of new protected areas; scientific substantiation of management plans and integrated monitoring within protected areas; creation of databases regarding faunistic diversity; evaluation of anthropic impact upon the environment, etc.
MNINGA was involved, at the solicitation of important decision-making and scientific factors (the Environment Ministry, the Romanian Academy), in the elaboration of projects and programs such as: Research in Piatra Craiului National Park – Biodiversity Conservation Management in Piatra Craiului National Park (financed by GEF World Bank, Romanian Government and National Forest Administration) (2000-2001); Realization of a data basis about Romanian protected vertebrates(in: Biodiversity Information Management System) (financed by GEF World Bank, Romanian Government and National Forest Administration) (2002); Realization of the Catalogue of the METADATA Information Sources of MNINGA (in Biodiversity Information Management System) (financed by GEF World Bank, Romanian Government and National Forest Administration).(2003); publishing of a Practical Guide of Romanian Chiroptera with specific conservation measures (2003); PHARE Project: Protection of wetlands of the Danube – a pilot project for Cama-Dinu Islets area, Scientific assistance for the realization of the database, monitoring and inventory of flora and fauna in the Cama-Dinu Islets area”PHARE–RO 0103.03-02 Cross Border Co-operation Programme Romania-Bulgaria (royal haskoning – Nederland).(2004); elaboration of the Guide to Romanian Bats (2003); elaboration of the Red Data Book of Romanian Vertebrates (2005); completion of Natura 2000 standard forms for 30 potential SCIs with information on the species listed in the Annex II of the HD and further species of conservation interest, with the elaboration in GIS format (scale1/50.000) of the limits for 30 potential SCIs (2005); Comparatively assessment of fauna diversity from Continental, Alpine and Pontic (terrestrial) Bioregions of Bulgaria and Romania (2007-2009).

Realization of the Biodiversy Information Management System for Romania (coordinator INCDDD; 2002-2003); Implementation of EU Waters Frame-Directive (WFD) and Integrated Coastal Zones Management (ICZM) in Romania (partner INCDDD; 2003); Development of Information System on Conservative Interest Wetlands from Romania (coordinator INCDDD; 2003-2005); Information System for Implementing the Natura 2000 Network in Romania (coordinator INCDDD; 2005-2006); Grant CEEX-NATFORMAN – Structura şi dinamica ecosistemelor forestiere naturale, support pentru fundamentarea de măsuri silviculturale apropiate de natură şi pentru o gestionare durabilă a pădurilor (The structure and dynamics of natural forestry ecosystems, support for substantiating nature-oriented forestry management measures, for achieving the sustainable management of forests) (partner ISER; 2006-2008); Project U.N.P.D./G.E.F.- Studies on the Coleoptera in Maramures Mountains Natural Park (participant ISER; 2007); Technical Assistance for diversifying the hunting potential of interior river basis, by beaver repopulation (ICAS; 2005); Research on the monitoring of bear populations from hunting grounds administrated by RNP Romsilva (ICAS;2005); INFOSOC Organizing a virtual training and consultancy center for research-development, to achieve the formation of a new communication and information culture in a society based on knowledge (ENVICONS through its consultants; 2003-2004).
